well

The term 'well' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' A hole or shaft drilled into the earth to get water or other underground substances. A bored, drilled, or driven shaft, or a dug hole, whose depth is greater than the largest surface dimension and whose purpose is to reach underground water supplies or oil, or to store or bury fluids below ground'.

The term 'well' as it applies to the area of coastlines can be defined as ' a hole, generally cylindrical and usually walled or lined with pipe, that is dug or drilled into the ground to penetrate an aquifer below the zone of saturation'.

The term 'well' as it applies to the area of forestry can be defined as ' the situation in which a forest stand contains trees spaced widely enough to prevent competition yet closely enough to utilize the entire site'.
