outfall

The term 'outfall' as it applies to the area of water can be defined as 'the place where a sewer, drain, or stream discharges; the outlet or structure through which reclaimed water or treated effluent is finally discharged to a receiving water body'.

The term 'outfall' as it applies to the area of coastlines can be defined as ' (1) the vent of a river, drain, etc. (2) a structure extending into a body of water for the purpose of discharging sewage, storm runoff or cooling water'.
