The term 'haze' as it applies to the area of the weather can be defined as ' (abbrev. HZ)- An aggregation in the atmosphere of very fine, widely dispersed, solid or liquid particles, or both, giving the air an opalescent appearance that subdues colors'.

The term 'haze' as it applies to the area of Earth observation can be defined as ' Fine dry or wet particles of dust, salt, or other impurities that can concentrate in a layer next to the Earth when air is stable'.
