condylomata acuminata

(kahn-dih-LO-ma-ta a-kyoo-mih-NA-ta) A raised growth on the surface of the genitals caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. The HPV in condylomata acuminata is very contagious and can be spread by skin-to-skin contact, usually during oral, anal, or genital sex with an infected partner. A female with condylomata acuminata is at an increased risk for developing cervical cancer. Also called condyloma and genital wart.
