Riprap

The term 'Riprap' as it applies to the area of coastlines can be defined as ' (1) broken stones used for revetment, toe protection for bluffs, or structures exposed to wave action, foundations, etc. (2) foundation of wall or stones placed together irregularly. (3) (smp) a layer, facing or protective mound of stones placed to prevent erosion, scour or sloughing of a structure or embankment; also the stone so used'.

The term 'Riprap' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' A layer of large uncoursed stones, broken rock,'.
