Gyres

The term 'Gyres' as it applies to the area of carbon dioxide can be defined as ' Major circular flow patterns in the oceans. The wind-driven eastward- and westward-flowing equatorial currents are blocked by the continents and rotate slowly in a clockwise direction in the North Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and in a counter-clockwise direction in the South Atlantic, South Pacific, and Indian Oceans'.

The term 'Gyres' as it applies to the area of the weather can be defined as ' Oceanic current systems of planetary scale driven by the global wind system'.
