After-Hours Dealing or Trading -- Dealings in stocks and bonds beyond normal hours of trading on systematized exchanges. This can occur upon announcement of important news of a corporate, market, economic, national or international nature. Stock prices may rocket or plunge from the closing positions prevailing at the end of the usual hours for transactions. Some brokerage houses have established over-the-counter markets to clear transactions in after hours.
